Reverend James Moore, Sr.

Senior Pastor

Rev. James E. Moore, Sr. was born July 24, 1952 in Newark, N. J. He has been a lifelong resident of Roselle, New Jersey for 67 plus years. He is a graduate of the Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, and a 1976 graduate of Trenton State College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

He was called to the Ministry in February 1975. Rev. Moore was licensed to preach in 1975. He served as Campus Minister/Chaplain at Trenton State from 1975-1985.

He was a Co-Founder/Charter Minister/Member of the Bibleway Deliverance Center in Linden in 1975.

1975-1985 -  He ministered at Prison/Psychiatric Hospital

Ministries, Yardville Prison, Essex County Youth Correction Center, Caldwell Prison, and Trenton Psychiatric Hospital-Vroom Building upon inmates request.

1985-1986 - He was ordained and served as a Deacon/Chairman at the Emmanuel Tabernacle A/G in Linden. He served as Interim Pastor of Emmanuel Tabernacle.

1986-88 -  He became an Associate Minister of Newark Gospel Tabernacle A/G, Int’l, 

1988-1992 -  Rev. Moore was ordained into Ministry in 1991. He served as Outreach Director of the Dayton Street Family/Youth/Drug Counseling Ministry (through Newark Gospel Tabernacle A/G)

1988-1992 - In 1992, Rev. Moore became an Associate Minister at the Second Baptist Church of Roselle.  In 1997, he became the Acting Pastor. On March 21, 1999, Rev. Moore became the Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church.

Under his leadership, the church family has grown in numbers. New ministries have been established. He has increased the Ministerial staff to 2 Assistant Pastors and 13

Associate Ministers.

Rev. Moore has been married to his wife, First Lady/Min. Margaret for 44 years. They are parents of 5 children, Rev. James, Jr., Rev. Marette Tyree, Marissa Phifer, Timothy and Tiffany Sandhu, Sons-In-Law, Rev. Michael Tyree, Stephen Phifer, Daughters in Law, Lady Gardia Moore and Jere Moore, six granddaughters, Michaela, Maia, Moriah, Mekenna-Engel and Mia Eliana Tyree, Gianna Marae Moore and one grandson, Judah Timothy Moore. The Moore family is also a musical family.

Rev. Moore loves the Lord and is an anointed Man of God.

Reverend Margaret Moore

First Lady/Associate Pastor

First Lady and wife of the esteemed Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Reverend James E. Moore, Sr., was formally educated in the Union and Newark public school systems.

She attended and graduated from the prestigious Arts High School, Newark, NJ, and continued her undergraduate studies at Westminster Choir College, Princeton, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, where she was conferred a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, with a concentration in voice.

The daughter of two gifted musicians, the late Robert and Mildred Blackwell, she continued the melodic lineage of her parents. While in college she met and married Rev. Moore. They wed on June 20, 1976. To this union five children were born: James, Jr., Marette, Marissa, Timothy and Tiffany, all of whom have been musically, as well as ministerially, endowed.

Licensed to preach on June 28, 2003, she has also recently received ordination to the Gospel ministry, on December 8, 2019.

A homemaker, musical director, teacher by calling and education, and aspiring author and designer, Reverend Margaret Moore has served as role model, confidante, and spiritual advisor to many.

An active participant in the life of Second Baptist, she has served and led many auxiliary arms of the church. She simply wants to be known as a servant, whose life verse is found in Colossians 3:23, just doing what she does for Jesus, the greatest role model, and living her life to live again!

Much love and appreciation is extended to her husband of 44 plus years, their children and spouses, and their seven grandchildren.
